How does it work?
We design, source and manufacture the finest grade socks, accessories and gear for cyclists. We are based in the United States and we do as much of it as possible right here. For Bespoke, we use crowdfunding as our business model. This gives our customers the chance to own products made with the highest grade materials and construction. Our products are made in very small production runs. Doing it this way makes it possible to offer what we make at a competitive price to the end user, but leaves no room for the traditional wholesale-to-retail price structure. That’s why Bespoke products won’t be available anywhere else besides defeetbespoke.com.
We have been manufacturing at our own factory for over 25 years. We are very excited to be able to offer items on Bespoke that can be sold prior to production. We believe this model creates less waste overall.
When do I pay?
What is a campaign?
We call each product a “campaign” since customers will be the ones who determine if it will be made or not. Once a campaign reaches its goal, the campaign closed and we being production. This helps us keep prices low by only constructing the styles and sizes that our customers order which reduces waste and those savings are passed on to you. Another thing this allows us to do is produce small batches of very unique items. We understand that what may be amazing to one customer could easily be passed up by another. Bottom line is if enough people back something, we’ll make it.
The trade-off with this model is that you will need to wait for your order to be made. Production time is 6-8 weeks for most campaigns, but we think the wait is well worth it. The expected shipping month is listed on each campaign page below the product description.
When you hit “Back it!”, you’re not paying immediately. We’ll validate your credit card number initially, but we will only charge you when the item reaches its funding goal. In the event that a specific campaign does not reach its goal before the deadline, the campaign will simply be canceled and you will not be charged.
Can I change my size / address?
You can change your size until we start production, and your address until the order ships. Just click edit on your order page to change this information.
When will my items be shipped?
Anticipated shipping date ranges are listed on each item’s product page.
Can an item be funded more than 100%?
For most products we stop taking orders for an item when the goal number is hit.
How do I know my size?
You can refer to the Fit Guide page to see your size. Most product pages also have sizing displayed.
When do I pay?
When you click “BACK NOW” you are not charged immediately. We do validate your credit card or payment form but we will only charge you if and when the item reaches the 100% funded goal. If a campaign does not reach its goal before the deadline date, the campaign is canceled and you will not be charged.
Most campaigns run 2-3 weeks. If a campaign reaches it’s funding goal and for some reason your payment does not process, you will have three days to resolve the issue.
If the payment issue isn’t fixed within three days of the campaign closing, our system automatically cancels the order so we can start production.
Saving credit card information.
When you create an account at Bespoke and fund a campaign, you have the option to enable INSTANT CHECKOUT. This means you can fund as many campaigns as you like, one after another and in the future, without having to enter your credit card information, again.
Why can I only fund one item at a time?
The easiest way we can answer this is that the rules of crowdfunding and payment processing require us to treat each item as a separate transaction. This means if you want to buy two pairs of socks (and the campaign is for individual pairs), you will need to fund one item, two times.
This is why we recommend turning on INSTANT CHECKOUT. It makes funding items on Bespoke as easy as can be!
Why do some campaigns close early?
In many instances fabrics we offer are in limited supply, so in those instances if a projection for what we can produce is limited to say 25 units, then the campaign will close as soon as those 25 orders have been made. This can be as fast as 1 hour or it could take the full funding period. For this reason, if you are really interested in something, we suggest you just back it to ensure you can get your order in.
Can I exchange or return an item after I receive it?
Bespoke does not carry inventory. This helps keep our prices in check but can makes exchanging an item harder. We’ll do our best to facilitate swapping out unworn, unwashed and unaltered items for a similar style or store credit. If you have any questions don’t hesitate to email us.
Do you ship internationally?
Yes, with this caveat: We include shipping charges in the product for shipping in the continental United States, only. We will do our best to ship to an International location within the shipping costs, but we reserve the right to collect more funds (at your approval) for certain International shipments.
Please note that depending on the value of the item import charges are not included with your checkout price if applicable. If you’d like to know your country’s customs charges beforehand, contact your local post office for more information or check out this link.
Do you have any items in stock that I can buy now?
We do not. We keep very limited inventory in our shop for returns, and we don’t offer these for sale.
Can you ship me sample products so I can figure out my size?
Unfortunately not – our business model means we keep very limited inventory on hand.
Do you guys offer custom sizing?
We only offer the sizing that is listed in our sizing charts.
